The busiest month of the year...

I have been incredibly bad at updating this blog this month. But that's for a good reason. Well, a couple of reasons. The first is that we have been reorganising the house. The living room now looks like living room rather than an office - my computer has been moved upstairs so there is only one in the living room now, and we have replaced it with a bookshelf and a fantastic Christmas tree. We also moved my sewing room into the larger spare room, along with all of my shelves and boxes of fabric etc, and also, this is where my computer is now, so I can design stuff, blog and search for ideas and inspiration all at the same time as finishing off a quilt or experimenting with a new needle felting design. It was such a great change that I was really excited and inspire to suddenly and intensively make Christmas presents for the majority of my friends. I found a great supply of cheap not water bottles and just went crazy with my scraps. I made 3 more than are shown here, but i was so close to the wire that I gave them away before I thought to take a photo.

I also finished my jigsaw scrap quilt for Donna. I didn't manage to take a photo of the whole thing, but here are a couple of photos of the different sections of quilting I did...

The other picture is of a scrap scarf that I made after getting inspiration from Leah Day using stuff that I would otherwise have thrown away, even after making the scrap quilt, that are just to thin to string together.

My first design is going well

I'm so excited! I've started to design and make my first block of the month quilt.  I've decided to make it as a mini quilt, 20x30 ish inches, and cut each square ready. I guess I'll have to scale it up if I want to sell or teach it though, I don't think it's the most useful size!
Anyway, it's all cut except the sashing and a couple of accent squares that I haven't decided on yet, but I'll leave that bit to the end.  Then I have to write each block up separately. This is the first time I've tried to write so I'm just going by my gut - hope it works!!!
